Youth and Family Services Program

A program that helps youth and families to find the services that they need. We provide information and referrals to programs, organizations, and agencies that work to provide youth and families a variety of social services and other forms of assistance. Some examples of referrals include

  • Employment
  • Health and Wellness Issues
    • General health care
    • Dental and mental health
    • Birth control and pregnancy
  • Education
    • Going back to school to get GED/Diploma
    • Referrals to vocational training programs
    • Assistance with college and financial aid applications
  • Probation
    • Completing court-ordered community service hours and other orders of the court
  • Counseling
    • Voluntary and/or court mandated
  • Housing/ Unstable Living Situation
  • Legal Issues
  • Volunteer Work
    • Referrals to agencies that need volunteer workers

New Horizons Family Center Tutoring

Afternoon tutoring and mentoring program that aids kids with homework and self image, anger management, and counseling.

The Zone

The Zone provides middle school students with somewhere safe to go after school from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. in a structured program that provides: homework assistance, fine arts activities, sports and games, academic enrichment, computer lab, field trips, personal growth.

Youth Chess Club

This program consists of casual open chess play. Participants will make new friends and strengthen their skills as they complete with other members. Beginners are welcome.

New Glendale Public Library Teen Library Card
Ask about getting a new Glendale Public Library Teen Library Card designed by Glendale High School students Min Ji Yi and Eun Jung Lee.

The new card is free and with parent permission enables you to check out DVDs, videos, and music from the Brand Library.

Glendale Youth Alliance, Inc.

The Glendale Youth Alliance (GYA) provides youth with employment training and experience. The purpose of the organization is to promote, facilitate, and provide employment opportunities for Glendale youth ages 14-21. Since its incorporation in 1993, GYA has provided employment and training to over 1000 youth. The youth in our programs face a variety of barriers to employment, including low family income, language and cultural barriers, lack of support or direction from an adult, and poor school performance.
